EDITORIAL APPOINTMENTS: Private 15-minute appointments with editors to show them material which may be suitable for their publications and/or to discuss ideas for stories. Sign-up sheets available at the front desk. Study guidelines and bring professionally prepared manuscripts. Be sure to bring copies! No charge. PROFESSIONAL CRITIQUES: Written evaluations of manuscripts followed by a 30-minute appointment to talk about ways to improve and/or market the work. Manuscripts should be double-spaced. Send 2 copies of your work to MCWC, 5 Locust St., Montrose, PA 18801 by June 25. Please specify genre and preferred critiquer. $35.00 per critique. Bryan Davis -Fantasy and fiction books: Synopsis plus 20 pages. Holly Miller - Nonfiction books: Proposal plus 20 pages. Nonfiction articles: Up to 2500 words. Ginger Kolbaba - Nonfiction articles: Up to 2500 words. Fiction books: Synopsis plus 20 pages. Carol Wedeven - Picture books, stories, or articles for children: Up to 1500 words. Lauren Yarger - Drama Sketches: One or two 5-minute sketches, each limited to 5 pages. Marsha Hubler - Books for young readers or young adults: Proposal plus 20 pages. Bible study guides or leader training manuals: Proposal plus 20 pages. Daily devotionals: Up to five. PRIVATE TUTORIALS: Kathy Ide. In-depth daily one-on-one mentoring sessions for a fiction or nonfiction book for which you’d like focused, professional direction. For fiction: Send a synopsis plus first three chapters. For nonfiction: Submit a chapter-by-chapter summary plus first three chapters. Limited to five participants. Send two copies of your work to MCWC, 5 Locust St., Montrose, PA 18801 by June 25. Additional fee: $95. CRITIQUE GROUPS: Opportunity for feedback from other writers. No charge. BOOK TABLE: Features books by faculty and conferees as well as resources to improve your writing and marketing. When registering, please indicate books you’ve written which you would like to sell. FREEBIES: Complimentary publishers’ guidelines and sample copies to save you time and postage. Bring a sturdy bag to take them home. CDs: Listen to the sessions you missed or those you want to hear again. SCHOLARSHIPS: General Scholarships: A limited amount of tuition assistance may be available. Shirley Brinkerhoff Memorial Scholarship: $100 tuition award to an aspiring writer who is actively honing the craft of writing but who has not yet secured a publishing contract.
